!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! a note about the fact that my dad's car will not be ready for the Hot Rod Power tour. I also mentioned to my wife this idea of buying a vehicle to take on the Tour and then to sell. She is onboard with this arguably silly/stupid/awesome idea. From the list of cars I linked she is down for the Corvair Van, the Lark and the Buick. I will be making calls Tuesday of work allows. Here is where you come in. Raid Craigslist and see what you can find within a days drive of Atlanta. Car needs to be a driver, cool, and under $5000. 1950-1970. I have a modern fallback if needed to take on the tour, but what fun would that be?

You should look at Corvairs. They are usually pretty affordable.

Of your range (as it's a '73) but it's a nice looking Monte Carlo with a big block chevy and probably a TH400.

1968 Fastback Merc - $3900 (Unadilla, GA)

1968 Pontiac Catalina 400hp Rebuilt Engine - $3795 (Atlanta)

1970 Buick Wildcat 455 - $4500 (west Ga)

I was eyeballing that Corvair myself. The late 60s and early 70s heavy iron doesn't do much for me. That Catalina does look clean aside from the fender dent. Could probably rent it out to movie production crews as well.

You're gonna have a bad time finding a car from that era.

I'll try and do a little looking around...I'm not too far away. And I'll be at Zmax for the kickoff, always a good time.

Definitely. I went when they were in Springfield and Champaign, IL, and at IMS in Indy a few years back. Always neat to see the massive variety of vehicles lined up.
